The training course was the key element of an overall assignment, where Odense Waste Management Company is contributing with their experience and expertise within sludge composting in a DANCEE funded project in Poland, as subconsultant to NIRAS Consulting Engineers and Planners.

Training session

Mixture of theory and practice

In the overall design of the training programme, emphasis has been put on the practicial application of knowledge, while the operation and maintenance manual together with the various training materials and hand-outs give the theoretical backgound. To avoid that the theory training sessions become dull, interlinked modules of Power-Point presentations have been developed, integrating written information with diagrams, drawings and not least plenty of photos and video-sequences.

Overall support to successful sludge composting

Odense Waste Management Company's Training Centre is ready to offer the educational materials and training skills it has developed within sludge composting in new similar projects for foreign colleagues, either at the Training Centre in Odense or elsewhere as advisors in planning development and execution of training activities or providing operational support. This might comprise e.g.:

  • advice during the tender-procedure
  • assistance in supervsision and commissioning of machinery and equipment
  • development of a complete O&M manual
  • excecution of a two-week training course at Odense Waste Management Company's Training Centre, situated at the Environmental Centre.
  • support to operational control of the composting process during start-up in Poland
  • follow-up support the first year via internet, phone, fax or visits as required.

The training and support strategy applied by our Training Centre has so far proved to work well, and the Polish participants have demonstrated a high motivation as well as ability to apply theory and skills during the practice sessions.

Exchanging know-how on solid waste

A new idea is being developed and turning into a concept, covering a kind of "exchange-relationship" between like-minded solid waste and waste water management companies or authorities with the aim of exchanging know-how among colleagues across borders.
